Cleaning House

Created: August 30, 2017

Holidays mean visitors.

This weekend in the US is our Labor Day holiday. It's a great end-of-summer holiday to get families together before kids go back to school (usually).

Since we've got a nice spot just out of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, we have quite a few family members coming to visit. That means my wife and I are spending all day today and tomorrow cleaning EVERYTHING IN THIS HOUSE.

This is another instance where regular habits are really helping us out. I have a bunch of daily and weekly cleaning tasks that keep things mostly in order, so we're not in too much trouble.

The same needs to be true for NetSuite development. Whether you're just getting started with learning or dashing from client task to client task, it's essential to have sound, sane habits and processes that keep you making progress so you never get swallowed up. Learn something about SuiteScript every day. Create templates for common functions and files to make you more efficient. Say "No" sometimes!

When's the last time you cleaned house in terms of your NetSuite development processes and code base? Are there some dirty corners you're afraid to look into? What chores have you been putting off?
